All About Ivory Poaching

Hello, my name is Ezekiel. I’m 9 years old. I attend Excellence Charter School of Bedford-Stuyvesant. I’m writing you this essay because poachers in Africa and Asia are killing elephants just for their tusks. At first, I thought elephants were happy, that’s when I read the Endangered Elephants book. That’s when I decided to write this essay. Now I know elephants are almost extinct and we need to help them survive.

I am going to tell you amazing facts about elephant and their habitat. Elephants are cool because they dig their tusk and drinks with their trunks. If an elephant stay in one place for too long all of their food will be all gone. Elephants are being killed just for them to make jewels. A matriarch is a female elephant who leads its herd for protection. It also looks for food and water. I just told you amazing facts about elephants.

The issue I am going to tell you is about ivory poaching. Ivory poaching is when somebody kills an elephants just to get their tusks to get some money. And then they turn the ivory into jewelry. You should not kill elephants just for their tusks, it is not right. Ivory is made out of the tusks of elephants. Poachers are cutting off their tusks just to make jewels. They are shooting elephants with huge machine guns so many elephants are being killed that they are almost extinct.

You can help save elephants by calling the police. When or if you see someone poaching an elephant now that really doesn’t happen here in America but if you see a ivory sale, don’t buy any jewels. You can buy other jewels for example emeralds and rubies. Make sure it isn’t a blood diamond either. I just told you why you shouldn’t poach elephants just for their tusks just to make jewels.

In conclusion, I just told you why you should not kill elephants, especially for their tusks to make your fancy jewels. I hope you enjoy this essay!
